Inquiry and Information Fluency

Inquiry and Information Fluency

WIlton Inquiry Model

Program Goals:

Students will pursue their own interests and learning by questioning, locating, evaluating, and communicating information to conduct research, solve problems and facilitate informed action.

Learning in Today's World

  • The amount of information we have keeps growing! This means everyone needs to learn how to think for themselves so they can keep learning on their own.

What is Inquiry and Information Fluency?

Inquiry is all about asking questions and exploring topics that interest you. Information fluency means you know how to find, understand, and use information well. These skills help students:

  • Chase after their own interests and learn new things.

  • Become a key part of learning, no matter what subject or grade level, because we live in a world full of information.

How Students Will Learn

Students will learn to:

  • Stick with it (be persistent!) by exploring things they're interested in and coming up with questions to investigate.

  • Use what they already know to improve their questions, find better resources, and develop strategies for finding information.

  • Use a common plan to collect and judge information from many different places. This helps them draw conclusions, understand what they've learned, and share their new knowledge.
